Indulging Who we are
Ever since I was young, I've always been interested in food. My dad and aunt taught me how to cook and bake from an early age. I remember making scones and naughty treats like cakes and biscuits with my Aunt Lynda. This is where my baking journey began and where I developed an interest in making food for people.
When I was 13, my dad noticed my growing interest in cooking programs and moved me on to the basics of cooking, from learning how to hold a knife to making a basic risotto. This blossomed into a culinary journey that I'm still embarking on. Cooking is a passion of mine, and I really enjoy it.
It gives me comfort, knowing that food can evoke different emotions. For example, eating a full bar of chocolate when you're feeling indulgent, or making Yorkshire Puddings with Onion Gravy, which gives you a sense of warmth and home. I always dreamed of trying fancy restaurants where it's not about filling your plate with a mountain of food, but more about the story behind why the chefs have combined certain flavors and designed the dish to look like a piece of art. This really intrigues me.
This is why I wanted to start reviewing my experiences as I delve into the world of culinary excellence. I feel like the North of England does not get the credit it deserves. It's home to God's own county, Yorkshire, where I am from. There are so many little nooks and crannies with beautiful locations and the most divine food. Let's celebrate the North!
